For Jason Stitch (father of Hayden and Luke) and friends, the time had come. Training was over and now it was time to face up to over 200 miles of tough riding over challenging hills and against the wind and rain and darkness! (There were also the small issues of punctures and broken dérailleurs.)
We hope that after two days of cycling the riders were pleasantly surprised to be greeted when they turned into the school drive by all the staff and teachers of the school clapping and cheering their arrival at their destination. They made good time too! A nice cup of tea with biscuits or toast (or both!) and then it was time to face the press. We are hoping that this event on its own will raise around £3000 for the project. Thank you so much to all our brave riders – and their support team and families – you are true heroes!
Here are some photos and a video of their arrival at Westhaven School.
Update:
At the summer fair Jason Stitch (father of Hayden and Luke) brought in the cheque for funds raised on the Lands End to Westhaven bike ride.
The total was a whopping: £3090.82
Amazing! A lot has already been said about what a massive effort this was and how grateful we are for all the hard efforts put in by the riders their team and their families, but once again…THANK YOU!
Well done Hayden dad
Thank you to everyone.
We could hear the clapping and cheering as soon as we turned onto Ellesmere Road.
It made the whole ride worthwhile!!
Hey the wonderful Stiches and friends. We can’t thank you enough for you commitment to our school.
The sight of you riding through the school gates after such a trial brought me to tears.
You are all our heroes .
Ryan’s dad…. Hey he’s not starting until September and you obviously have the Mr and Mrs Stitches approach to family, school, child….. teamwork.
Thank you all so much.
You are amazing parents and people…..with amazing children of course.
Ms Towler.
