In light of some recent online safety incidents, here is a statement from Mrs Towler:
Dear parents and carers,
The IT department, teachers and SLT are now in the process of digging deeper into this immediate issue regarding online abuse.
We have been looking at the level of English language used, the level of IT competence and online monitoring. We now have many areas of evidence and knowledge of our children to be able to identify the learners who are leading this at the moment, including IP addresses which will pinpoint your address.
Our list is down to a few individual children who fall into this category. Unfortunately this is now falling into racist behaviour in addition to pornography and personal insults to our team. Racist behaviour is a reportable offence, which we always follow through at NSCC level and legal action. Safeguarding is being breached and is reportable to higher level authorities including the police, social care and the safeguarding board. The pornography used will be reported to the police, the site hosts and the Children and Young People’s Safeguarding Board. I cannot stress highly enough that this issue will be addressed at the highest level and as parents your immediate responsibility is to check your children’s online use. If you find that your child is at the centre of this issue you MUST report it to school as soon as possible.
