Pantomime
Christmas in W6 means…. Panto! Students enjoyed the highs and lows of Jack and the Beanstalk at the Playhouse this Christmas. The performance was brilliant, the group was amazing and the beanstalk was sensational. W6 enjoyed a matinée performance for the last week of term as part of our social independence outcomes.
Swimming
Another Christmas treat this term was swimming. Many of W6 enjoyed a lesson at Hutton Moor as a trial for the future. They loved it! It was hard to tell the humans from the mermaids/mermen… It was great for the group to go out and build their independence skills including asking prices to hire tennis courts and learning how to get changed very, very quickly!
Christmas dinner
We followed our new tradition in W6 of cooking our own Christmas dinner, jobs were divided and each student had a particular role. We cooked chicken, roast potatoes, parsnips, stuffing, pigs in blankets, carrots, peas, broccoli, gravy and yorkshire puddings. For dessert Hilly made us a fabulous yule log and Mr Bawden made gifts for the homemade cracker activity.
Christmas cards
As part of a Christmas enterprise task W6 made Christmas cards for our neighbours. We also practiced our road safety skills by delivering them to letterboxes along the road.
