Tomorrow (24th April) will mark 1 month since ‘#weappreciateyou’ day. After that day was so successful in engaging children and families at home, we think it would be good for the children to remember why it was so important and continue to recognise the great work via a ‘Dress Up Day’.
Families and staff can dress up as key workers for the day, and post their pictures into social media and school channels. As well as dressing up, they can draw updated rainbows and write letters of support and thanks to those workers.
————————————————————————————————————————————-
Date – Friday 24th April. All day/any time of the day.
Children in school AND children at home – A day to recognise the work of key workers and NHS staff.
Dress up as someone who you would like to acknowledge and show support to.
Update a new rainbow. Decorate your rainbow with words of thanks to all key workers, AND WHY you are thanking them.
Who else? – Families are encouraged to dress up as well so parents and siblings should be actively encouraged to take part. Extension – could children encourage family members who they do not live with to take part and share their fancy dress on video calls to each other (I think this would be a lovely way for older generations to be involved and take pride in the children’s efforts and also see how the school is engaging them).
Staff. Get involved if you wish by dressing up and sharing your photos on social media! ELAN Facebook page, as well as your own school’s pages.
Communication – Please ask everyone to share their experiences and photos on the school’s social media pages, and the ELAN social media pages. Emails are not needed, as this is too much admin, so parents should be encouraged to post on Facebook and Twitter and tag us in. Use #weappreciateyou
