Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to Term 6

Here we are at the beginning of Term 6.  I would like to thank you for your support of the school and the staff team since 23rd March.

Today, 1st June, schools are carrying out a wider re-opening to more children.  At the present time North Somerset is experiencing a ‘spike’ in Covid 19 cases, therefore Westhaven and other schools in the area are carrying out this at a slower, but safe, pace for the first week.  Each week will be judged on scientific and Government advice.  So stay with us as the landscape changes.

The school is now set up in a different way.  We have a one-way system in place, hand-sanitising stations at every entrance place and children and staff are having their temperatures taken as they arrive in school. All the classrooms have been ‘socially spaced’ and deep cleaned.  Children are coming into school on a rota basis and will be kept in social ‘ bubbles’ with the same staff and peers in these ‘bubble groups’.  There are live risk assessments in place, which are flexible to ensure we keep pace with our rapidly changing environment and we keep everyone safe.

Westhaven School is continuing to provide online learning, work packs and  free school meal deliveries for those eligible children being educated at home.  As parents there are no penalties for continuing to educate at home during this difficult time.

In the last week of this summer term we are hoping to do some transition work with our new learners for September.  As you are aware anxiety for these new learners will be quite high.  This school in this final week will be open to key worker’s children and those who are vulnerable.

I would like to thank you all for being such loving and caring parents.  I am fully aware of how hard you are all working to educate, care and support your children in this unprecedented time.  Please don’t hesitate to contact school if you need any support as we are there to help you.

For now the sun continues, which is a blessing for us all.  Keep smiling.

Yours sincerely,
Ms T Towler
Headteacher
