A welcome from the Headteacher!

Welcome to our website.  I am sure it will inform you fully about our wonderful school.

We are a small school.

We are a quiet school.

We are a school of high expectations.

Westhaven School is a unique learning environment for children and young people who experience complex barriers to learning for a range of reasons.

In order that we maintain our respected status in the community, the whole school community works together in the ‘Westhaven Way’.  This is the golden thread that runs through every school day.  The Westhaven Way is based on our core values:

  • We respect each other.
  • We uphold the school rules.
  • We are polite.
  • We show learning behaviour in every lesson.
  • We have high expectations of ourselves and we are ‘the best that we can be’.

I am extremely proud of the whole school community.  Our parents and carers work with us to support their children on their own personal learning journey.

Our staff are all leaders and maintain high standards and expectations.  They are a powerful team of people with success for our learners at the core of all their work.

And, of course, our learners, who represent the school and maintain fantastic outcomes.

A learner at the end of their education in our school has expectations of success in the future and is a resilient person who is ready to take their place in society.
